Trattoria Park Royal

After a failed trip to Canyon Lights the girls and I were looking for a place in West Vancouver to warm up in and have some dinner and drinks – we decided on Glowbal’s Trattoria at Park Royal.

We started off with a pitcher of their white sangria (yum)

Karen and I split the pear and gorgonzola salad with arugula, beets, radicchio, frisée, hazelnuts, gorgonzola vinaigrette. I appreciated that they plated the salad split into two portions on two plates for us. Great flavour in this salad and lots of cheese.

We also shared two of their pastas, the penne arrabiata with pancetta, garlic, tomatoes, burrata, peperoncino and the gnocchi with pesto cream and tomato bruschetta. Again I really appreciated that they split and plated our pastas on two different plates – makes the sharing part much less messy. The gnocchi was great, perfect fluffy texture. The penne was nothing special, the burrata was the best part.

Athena had eggplant parmigiana, but ordered it in the style of the chicken parm. Trattoria’s vegetarian eggplant parm is done differently and has different sides. Athena wanted it done with mozza and served with the roasted brussels sprouts. The kitchen was happy to modify the dish for her and she loved it.

Amber and Ashlyn ordered the pasta plate “for two” which could have fed the entire table!

We finished off with a second pitcher of white sangria – which the bartender got fancy with, carving the strawberries and garnishing with rosemary.
